We hope you enjoy your visit to our "virtual" home, which will give you some information on how we started with the Siberian Husky, Shiba Inu, and our accomplishments. We have been breeding, racing on a limited basis, and showing quality Siberian Huskies since the early 70's, and we are very proud to have been raising and showing Shibas since they were AKC recognized in June 1993! DES-MAR is a small kennel that breeds selectively, always striving to improve in every generation, and to reach that unattainable goal of perfection. Our dogs are not actively campaigned but rather they are shown on a limited basis [usually owner handled]. We feel the lessons learned from the short time that we were involved working the dogs in harness must definitely include the attainment and maintenance of proper movement and soundness which is exemplified by our Ch. Des-Mar's Yakima and all the Des-Mar dogs. We strongly believe if you lose the working instinct in these magnificent animals you lose the very essence of the breed. Breeders of Best in Show and Champion Siberian Huskies in many countries. To date, DES-MAR has produced over 41 American champions, several Canadian champions, three Best In Show dogs, Best In Show Brace, and awarded the Best Bred By Exhibitor with Des-Mar's Moonlite Madness Maddie at the 1999 National Siberian Husky Club of America in Portland, Oregon. Maddie's name will be engraved on the annual Eva B "Short" Seely Memorial Challenge Trophy. Our latest NEW Champion is "Ch. Des-Mar's Let's Talk About Me" Mimmie, finishing 9/29/07. Des-Mar Siberians have been represented
in two books, both published in the early 90's.
OUR GOAL is to produce sound, healthy, moderate sized, and balanced Siberian Huskies which are free of genetic problems while adhering to the Standard for the Siberian Husky, as adopted by the American Kennel Club. We have focused our breeding program on soundly tempered, friendly, alert and outgoing Siberian Huskies which maintain the breed's seemingly effortless movement. All of our Siberian Huskies are raised in our home and become family members first and foremost. All breeding stock is eye checked clear, SHOR-CERF registered and OFA certified with "good" or "excellent" ratings. Our puppies come with a health guarantee and all show puppies are fully guaranteed against genetic disorders. We have bred Siberians under the kennel names of Desha, Maridel and Des-Mar, including our Best In Show winners. We are very proud to have been raising and showing Shibas since they were AKC recognized in June 1993! Also finishing 4 Shiba Inus, several others major pointed, and having been awarded Winner's Bitch and Best of Opposite sex at the first AKC pointed Shiba Inu National Specialty in Tumwater, Wa. 1993.
