We are going to be CLOSED the 3rd and 4th of July to spend time with our families and celebrate our Nation's Birthday. We hope you have a great 4th! We will open again at our regular time on the 5th of July.
Come join us for one of our Open Sews in July: Thursdays 10 - 2 except July 22nd due to the Covington Quilt Guild's show. They are $15.00 per session.

We still have fabric and finishing kits available as well as a few blocks. Stop by and check it out. We can also mail you a block if you can't make it to the shop. Just call during regular business hours for credit card orders.
We had 1250+ people come through our doors in the 5 days of Shop Hop and it looked like everyone was having a great time....I wish I could go, but alas, that's what happens when you become a shop owner!
This month our sale is CHRISTMAS IN JULY! That's right, all of our Holiday fabrics, kits and patterns are 10% off for the month of July. This is the best time to pick up those new, just released fabrics while they are hot off the press.

Upcoming classes for July and beyond...
Trip Around the World with Dawn Shirron: Using the methods of Eleanor Burns “Quick Trips”, learn how easy these multi colored quilts can be. This class is geared for the beginning to intermediate quilter, so any skill level is welcome. Monday mornings, 10 - 1, July 5th and 12th, are the dates for this 2 part class, $40.00 plus book and materials.
Delectable Mt with Dawn Shirron: This installment of Delectable Mt. will incorporate a panel into the center of the quilt rather than a starting block. Learn how to adapt the pattern for your panel. Or stick with the classic and build a traditional block for the center. This 2 part class will be held Sunday mornings, 10 - 1, July 11th and July 18th, $40.00 plus book and materials. Come see the great samples at the Shop.
Roxanne Carter - Girls Day Out: In January, Roxanne started her Block of the Month class in addition to her Girls Day Out. It is always a pleasure to see what Roxanne comes up with and this one is stunning. This class will be (usually) the last Friday of the month. The next sessions are August 6th (not the last Friday of the month) and August 27th, etc. 10 - 1, $25.00 plus materials. Call for a place in this very popular class!
Million Pillowcase Challenge: We are a proud supporter of the Million Pillowcase Challenge and on Saturday, August 7th, 10-4 Darlene Girton will be helping you create a pretty pillowcase that you can donate to the charity of your choice. There is NO FEE for this workshop and some sewing machines will be provided for those that don't own one. What a great way to introduce sewing/quilting to the next generation! Bring you own fabric, or receive a 10% discount on fabrics purchased for your pillowcase. Bring your machine too if you have one. Or if you would like to come help with this community project, give me a call.
Brazilian Embroidery with Grita Gidner: The next installment of Brazilian Embroidery is "Holly and Pine Boughs". This is a lovely piece suitable for the Holidays. Those who have taken the "Summer Bouquet" class will find it fairly easy and this will be a good way to reinforce the stitches already learned by using them in a different way. The finished product is framed in a hoop. The stitched piece can be seen at The Shop. Sunday, August 8th and 15th from 10 - noon. $20.00 for the 2-3 hour sessions. Some supplies are needed to be purchased.
Memorial Quilts: Have you ever wanted to make a quilt with pictures of family and friends or maybe out of the Sports Shirts that your family wore while they were in school? Well Darlene Girton will be here on Saturday, September 11th to Demo and Lecture on how to create these great quilts. No need to bring anything except your questions. 10 - 2, $25.00 Limited to 20 people!
Chenille Throw: Jenni Christensen is back again with a great little class. She will be teaching us how to make a cute little Chenille Throw that would be great for any baby gift. Saturday, September 18th, 10-4, $40.00 plus materials. This is a great sample in the shop.
Roxanne Carter's-All Day! Girls Day Out: Wonderful things await us when Roxanne is here for a "Girls Day Out" Work on any of the Roxanne Carter patterns, or just catch up on some of those UFO's. Saturday, October 2nd, 10-4, $40.00
Darlene Girton's "Machine Quilting for Beginners": You too can machine quilt! That's right ladies (and a few gentlemen!), install your darning foot, drop those feed dogs and see what you and your sewing machine can do. We will cover the basics of starting and stopping stitch lines, gain confidence in stitch-in-the-ditch quilting with a walking foot, and an introduction to free motion quilting. A fun time to be had be all! This 2 part class will be held Saturday, October 9th and 16th, 10-2, $50.00 Book required for class. Other materials will be provided.
Darlene Girton's "Machine Quilting for Beyond Beginners": This class is the next installment of Darlene's quilting techniques. That's right, now you will be installing your darning foot, dropping those feed dogs and see what you, with your new found confidence and your machine can do! Building from the techniques of the Beginning Class, where the introduction to free motion quilting was started, this class will continue to build your confidence and expand your capabilities. Bring a finished top (lap size or smaller) so you can design your own quilting format. "Let the quilt speak to you". Saturday, October 23rd, 10-2 $40.00 plus class book. Other materials will be provided.
AND NEW TO TAYLOR CREEK! We would like to introduce our newest instructor: Irene Moss!
Many of you may remember Irene teaching at Calico Cat in Auburn. We are so happy to have her as one of our instructors...I can't wait to take one of her classes! This is what Irene will be teaching:
Double Wedding Ring: This quilt can be paper pieced or cut using templates. Her preferred method of teaching this quilt is to use the templates, but some of us are going to try using the paper piecing techniques of Judy Niemeyer. If you haven't seen Bali Wedding Star, you should come by the shop and look at the pattern...its wonderful. This 2 part class is Sunday, September 19th and 26th, 1-4, $60.00 plus materials and tools.
Woven Quilts: Irene will also be teaching us this great technique. There are a couple of great samples in the shop. They are stunning and 1000 words just doesn't justify their beauty! Saturday, September 25th, 10-2, $40.00 plus book and materials.
Beginning Quilting: Another great class from Irene is her Beginning Quilting class. This class is for you if you have questions on basic block shapes as well as half and quarter square triangles. Homework will be required for this 3 part class. Sunday, October 10th, 17th and 24th, 1-4, $90.00.
And coming in the fall ... Joyce Becker's Quick Little Landscape Quilts: Fast and fun! Create a "mini" landscape collage in nothing flat, using Joyce's original "cut and glue" raw edge applique' techniques. You'll design your landscape to fit inside any sized photo mat but she recommends starting with an 8" x 10" photo mat. You may end up with a couple of completed "minis" by the end of the class. Principals of design, scale, perspective and value are taught, along with stitching and embellishing techniques. Open to everyone - NO LANDSCAPE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!!! Joyce will bring painting/embellishing supplies. This class will be held Saturday, November 20th, 10 - 4, $50.00 plus materials. Contact Joanne at the shop about the supply list.
